Fall sunset at Higgins

Thank you Tom for this beautiful picture. Wish I could say it's all sunshine here in Georgia but the rain is still falling. I'm waiting though.. Carlie's place is beautiful and when the sun comes out, I'll share some photos.

I'm enjoying the comments from the previous post. I think we may be getting somewhere. Everyone has a voice. Use it. We all know that part of the tradition of the camp is to live as non-confrontationally as we can. Doesn't make the problems go away, just keeps things simmering under the surface. There are issues that need discussion and they are reasonable, responsible and nothing to be afraid of. Start speaking up. No one can silence anyone. Suggestions and questions should be made and should be asked. Talk to the board, share your concerns, volunteer your services, pick up some litter if you see it..get involved and get busy. Thanks for sharing!!

Fall at Higgins Lake. Most people have left. Camp is quiet and peaceful. No bickering going on. No complaining about kids crying in the dining hall, or hats or cell phones. Nothing to do but enjoy the piece and quiet of gods beautiful masterpiece. With time to reflect on the past and ponder the future. Wondering why we all cant just get along. We are all so fortunate to have a beautiful place to retreat from the real world. People who genuinely care about others, like they are part of a larger family. We are all far more fortunate than we realize. Why does the crying of a baby or a squeal drive people crazy, shouldn't we be thankful that god has given a beautiful life to enjoy...(now if they wont stop crying..get them out of the darn dining hall for crying out loud!). Life is much to short to not enjoy every minute. We have lost some incredible people this last year and a half. People that have had a tremendous influence on all of us. Lets all do our best to look past the petty things, help educate people who really don't know about the rules..... and most importantly... AND THIS GOES TO EVERYBODY.....LIVE BY AND HAVE RESPECT FOR ALL THE RULES THAT WE HAVE AGREED TO....aka the bylaws. Not just the ones that we like, but all of them. Have respect for the tradition, history, the many generations that have taught us and still have so much to teach. If everyone would just do that, the Lakeside will continue to be the best place on Earth....... Matt Semeyn
