Back to the begining

You all be the judge, did that look great or what?

While someone may have seen RED, what Katy and I saw was simply a door that needed painting. The paint had peeled down to the wood in many places. That is no way to take care of a great old place. We drove to the hardware store in Roscommon and bought what we thought would be an attractive color.. something to brighten up the entrance. We liked Red. We worked hard on that door. It looked nice until...

Even aside from that, a red front door symbolizes "welcoming," right? If that's true, the person who painted over the Red Door must not like to have people feel welcome in there... and i think they've showed that even before the painting of the door.

It's a stretch. But I think that door looked great. Gave the cottage a nice accent.

Yes, a red door does symbolize welcome. It seemed fitting. It needed painting and looked nice.

Some people take things way too personally. I think its beautiful.

Even if the color red was offensive to some, I know the parties would have been willing to paint it any other color that the group agreed on rather than land in court......a simple phone conversation could have cleared this all up...but to land in court
over a door that can be re-done
was really just over the top. It's ONLY paint and I think they did what they thought was right, to keep the old cottage in the best shape possible by painting the down to the wood ugly door.Don't we all do the BEST for our cottages?????

Oddly enough, Stu was up that weekend. Knowing how mother felt about red, I didn't call and ASK her but we did run it by Stu and with Katy there we had a majority. Every suggestion for improvements previous to this action were ignored from the other parties. No communication would have worked. We felt it was an improvement that needed to be done. Does someone think they are the "color police"?

I think it's ironic that he would complain that he detested the color red when he was driving a red car at the time. Oh well, there ya go.

I think you all are missing the point, it's not the color at issue, it's the power. Always has been and continues today. Keep up your strugle.

You are right. It was not about the color it was the fact that Katy and I did it. It has always been about power...or some twisted interpretation of power.

You know its funny what thoughts come to mind when I read all this...

I wonder if after he pays for his cottage he will finally get new carpet.... Its funny, after 30+ yrs of age, that stuff has really held up! lol
I suppose maybe if it were his idea to replace it, it would have been replaced by now.
Too bad this has all happened. I still have hookups for carpet down here!

Although I adore 'Lakeside Green', I think red is most appropriate for your cottage. Very artistic and very welcoming. I have always felt welcome in the Lee/Symons/MacDonald cottage.

Pardon me, I have always felt welcome in the 'DeGuess' (my apologize as I cannot spell, my Mother can attest to this) cottage as well.
