Surprise surprise, history repeats it's self, again...

Fool us once shame on you, fool us twice or three or four times shame on us. We should have known that when an agreement is reached that involves the cottage, David Meyer, David Symons, and Phil Sturtz, nothing is as it seems.

Arrived in camp this morning to gather up the items that mother and Katy wanted, expecting to see David Meyer and Rick Symons and who do we see, but David Meyer, David Symons and Phil Sturtz. The three musketeers, all laden down with their inventory list's and clip boards in hand. Now in some degree of fairness we showed up eight strong, and perhaps our numbers were overwhelming to them, hard to monitor the activities of all of us to make sure we didn't take an extra glass, or an ashtray, or a plate. And to top that off, Phil tried to inform us that David Meyer had allocated an hour and if we didn't have our stuff out when he left, the doors would be locked and we would be out of luck.

What really pissed us off was we had spent considerable time detailing everything that was ours, room by room, and had a plan laid out that would have had us in and out in a reasonable amount of time. But what did we find upon our arrival, they had piled everything in the kitchen and back room and from the moment we walked in they were on us to get this stuff out of here and get it out now. And for the record, it was pouring rain out side, but that made no difference to them. We had no way of knowing if the items we were going to take were there or not, and our every move to seek items in other parts of the cottage were met with looks of distrust, and we were followed at our every move, we felt like accused shoplifters. So much for that trusting feeling that David Meyer assured us of.

At one point, someone in our group asked if it was possible to use the bathroom, that request was denied. Classy, you expect anything less from "your" association president?

In light of the on going monsoon, we were able to keep our great sense of humor, and we got everything we wanted loaded up. Before bidding adu we gathered one last time on the front porch and toasted to all the great times we had in Lakeside over the past 40, 50, and 80 years respectively, knowing that we always took the high road throughout this ordeal and we can walk among our many friends with our heads held high. I can't say the same for them.

We will be back, probably the day of the pig roast since there were items that we could not get out, and this will allow us to enjoy the camaraderie of all our great friends from Lakeside, Cottage Grove and Pinewoods, one more time. Hope to see most everyone then.

I promised a while ago that I would be recapping the events of the past 3 years because of the many requests from you loyal readers. There is much that has not been written about, and I owe it to those who have stuck by us and will do so in three installments, beginning in May, and finishing in July. Please stay tuned.

Rumor has it that another cook book might be in the works, if you have an interest please let me know, if have a recipe to share, sent it to me, you'll be properly recognized.

It's always been David Slymons motto. "Kick em when their down"

Unbelievable. Kind of surprising that they would go through the trouble of actually gathering the items into the kitchen and back room -- seems like they would have gotten more satisfaction from following everyone around with their intimidating clipboards and terrifying "looks."

And then the denial of using the bathroom? lol Classy, indeed.

Unreal... Though I'm not sure why I'm surprised.

David didn't want to follow you around and work up a sweat. That would be exercise

It was a show. It was comedy at its best. In fairness to David Meyer, who'd had to stand around with the other two for about a half hour, he tried. He tried to be respectful, helpful, stated he was willing to stay another hour and a half...and, he got an earful. He also thanked us when he finished up. He was impressed with how reasonable, helpful, organized and decent we were. I suspect he can't say that about the other two.

as for the bathroom... yeah. classy. he said "the water wasn't turned on". I sure hope he and Phil had to pee their pants while waiting. You can turn the water on downstairs.

Most of the stuff was piled in the back room and kitchen. Too bad for them they only got some of it. We had to wrap up dishes, scour for the other stuff and all the while Lucy ran in and out..all wet and dirty. I hope she had to pee in the cottage!!

All in all, it was funny. DCS will always be an A H...with no class. He could barely speak..did anyone notice that??? He also didn't seem like his elevator was going to the top floor.... hmmmm.

He can't ever speak... It's going to be a lonnnnnnnnng annual meeting.

Few fries short of a happy meal, perhaps?

Wish I could have been there.

REAL glad I wasn't...

How awful that David Slymeons wouldn't even let you guys use the bathroom! What a pig!! Is he now the sole owner of the cottage?

How did that douche ever become President of the venerable Lakeside Association?

Joey said...

No David isn't the sole owner. The Radke Trust is two thirds owner. I suppose that may mean that Carols sister Bonnie is also a new Lakesider now. I always liked her. David didn't want to have to cough up any money. This way, he didn't. Nice huh? I wonder how he's feeling? Seems he had to be helped to his car before we all left. I sure hope something didn't happen.

The guilt must be catching up to him, Joey. Who is the Radke Trust controlled by?

For what it's worth, I know that it's over with but I just couldn't imagine taking my stuff out of our cottage and leaving the only beautiful place that I have ever known and leaving for good. David must have a huge chip on his shoulder against his wonderful sister that has done Nothing wrong in her 80 years. I'm just saddened by all of this. Sitting on the front porch and looking out to a place I couldn't call my own anymore. He has lost alot of friends up there and for what a place he can now go to all by himself. What a lonely existance.

None of them have ever been friendly anyway... They like Lakeside more for what it can 'do' for them, i.e., tennis courts, boat mooring, etc.

I don't know the terms of the Radke Trust but I would guess that the trustees are Carol and her sister Bonnie. Bonnie and her husband Jim are terrific people. I still can't figure out how DS got them to do this. Anyway, I do know that David had taken Carol off the deed before any of this started. I suspect that with the new ownership now it'll trigger the association's transfer fee. Hmmm...

If only bob carr would have let david win that boat race when they were younger, maybe just maybe david would have turned out differently. I said maybe.

Nah... I think he was wacked before that. Doubt if it would have made any difference.

Seems David Slime-ons only pursued the Presidency of Lakeside to feed his bottomless pit of an ego!!

Yes- we do hope the Trust/ BS here triggers the Associations transfer fee. How much is that these days?

You know, many in Lakeside have confided to me that their portfolios are in shambles due to the economic meltdown. Some cannot even come to the lake this summer because they can't afford to eat in the dining hall anymore!

Wonder what Mr. Slimeons plans to do to address Lakeside's economic woes?

That saddest thing here is that that sainted 81 year old woman, who's never harmed a fly in her entire life, cannot ever set foot in the cottage she loved again.

Shame on you David!

Shame on David is right!!!
Sue's his own sister for What???
To make sure she or anyone other than her family is able to go to the lake? what a scum ball. I think in the future we should put in place that to be president you have to love lakeside and love your family members and everyone else. Seems David had way too much going on to concentrate on the good of the camp. He doesn't care about you me or the beautiful place we call heaven on earth. Impeachment is the only way to get this scumball out of here and take your scumbag family with you.

as for people not going to the lake this summer, also the people that have dogs won't be coming either cause who can afford to kennel their dogs. I say allow dogs in camp. David is a dog and he's allowed to go into lakeside.

Anonymous said...

Yes, well, dogs and we might have to start opening up the dining hall to the general public-- like a restaurant.

Hello: I just want to say that I'm so dreadfully sorry this has happened to all of you. When I heard about the sheriff being in camp over new years, I was convinced that I have been right all along about the David Symons family. Very selfish, egotistical bunch. People may smile and be pleasant to them from here on in, but I wouldn't want to know what's going on behind those perfunctory smiles. Why would you want to be in a place where you're not wanted?

Very well put

Anonymous said...

Yes, very well said, and I think you speak for most of Lakeside.

This is an outrage, an absolute tragedy.

It's a dark, dark day for Lakeside Camp.
