That's one...

And so the oldest, and arguably the foulest political dynasty ever foisted off on this Republic is reduced to one drunken, pill-popping freak in Rhode Island...
My full and unqualified congratulations both to that outnumbered band of conservatives in Massachusetts who have held their principles firm in the face of overwhelming numbers and even abandonment by their own party, and to all those Democrats and independent Massachusetts voters who realized there was no future in following Barack Obama and the Democratic Party machine deeper into moral and fiscal bankruptcy. We welcome you back to the political life of this wonderful country, and look forward to working with you to make it again the shining triumph it was always meant to be.
This was not a GOP victory tonight. If it had been left to the GOP, to Michael Steele and John Cornyn, Scott Brown would have vanished into obscurity and Ms. Coakley would have waltzed into Washington uncontested.
This was, yes, a victory for the 'tea baggers,' the scorned, mocked American men and women from all parties and no party who came together to reject the politics of the insiders club in DC, GOP and Democrat, to reject the trading of favors paid for by our security, our solvency and our children's futures, to reject the notion of government by the mutal consent of well-placed incompetents who understand their own arcane parliamentary games and nothing else about this magnificent. diverse, yes, exceptional nation.
And so to Nancy Pelosi, to Harry Reid, yes, to Michael Steele and especially to that jug-eared store mannequin in the Oval Office, I say again, "That's one...
...and she's just the first."
Re-printed from "Three Beers Later..."
Senator Paul KIrk's Last Day!
Massachusetts law says that an appointed senator remains in office “until election and qualification of the person duly elected to fill the vacancy.” Democrat Senator Paul Kirk was appointed to fill the vacent seat. Tuesdy is the 'election', and if Republican Scott Brown wins, he will meet the age, citizenship, and residency requirements in the Constitution to 'qualify' for the Senate. In other words, Kirk will lose his vote in the Senate after Tuesday’s election in Massachusetts.
Oh, Democrats are going to howl about this- Kirk has vowed to vote for the Democratic bill even if Republican Scott Brown is elected but not yet certified by state officials and officially seated in the Senate, and the Secretary of State for Massachusetts has vowed to delay certification for as long as is illegally possible. Without Kirk’s vote, the Democrats don't have the 60 votes needed to stop a Republican filibuster of Obamacare, and they'd have to seek other options. But 'election' does not mean 'seated,' and 'qualification' does not mean 'certified,' and so like it or not, today is Senator Paul Kirk's last day as a United States Senator.
According to the Weekly Standard:
When Republican John Tower of Texas was elected to the Senate in 1961, he wasn’t certified until April 17. But his pay as a senator began on April 2, the day after his election. Strom Thurmond was elected senator from South Carolina in 1956, succeeding an appointed senator. A resolution introduced by then-Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson established his Senate term to have begun the day after his election, weeks before his certification.
Thanks for your service to our country Paul Kirk- be sure the door doesn't hit you on the way out.

Remember the truck!

They scheduled a coronation in Massachusetts and, against all odds, a campaign broke out. They took away the governor's power of appointment to foil Mitt Romney in the event that John Kerry was elected president in 2004. Thank you, Democrats of Massachusetts. Life is funny that way, and so therefore is politics, every once in a while.
Scott Brown is the man of the hour. With coolness and perspicacity, he has given voice to the present discontents and sober second thoughts of his fellow citizens. By staking his candidacy on opposition to the Democratic agenda, to one party rule, to the insane national security policy that passes as the higher wisdom in the Obama administration, and to the arrogance of the elites who brook no offense to their majesty, he has contributed to the tidal wave he is riding.
In doing so he has displayed grace under pressure. When moderator and twit for all seasons David Gergen came at Brown with a haymaker in the debate last week, Brown landed a telling blow of his own, and not just against Gergen. Brown's renaming of "the Kennedy seat" as "the people's seat" will survive this campaign whether he wins or loses.
Brown has the common touch. It is symbolized by his truck. He has toured Massachusetts in a 2005 GMC Canyon pickup truck with almost 200,000 miles on the odometer. USA Today notes: "He features the truck in his campaign ads to show he is an everyman in touch with blue-collar and independent voters."
George Burns is reputed to have said that sincerity is everything. If you can fake that, you've got it made. But how about the common touch? As Martha Coakley has demonstrated, it's tough to fake.
There's something about that truck. How many times did Obama mention it in his speech at Coakley's rally in Boston at Northeastern on Sunday? I think the over/under is 15. With that truck Brown got inside Obama's head like a trash talking football stud running down his opponent's mama to throw him off his game.
"He's driving his truck around the commonwealth and he says that he gets you," Obama said of Brown at the rally. "Everybody can run slick games," he added. "Forget the truck. Anybody can buy a truck."
In a campaign that has contributed a lot of memorable quotes, Obama's late entry should not be ignored. Remember the truck! If you're registered to vote in Massachusetts, and if you have a message to deliver, don't forget to vote either.

Today everyone should be reminded that Martin Luther King Jr. was a REPUBLICAN
I share more than just a birthday with Dr. King, I share the same political beliefs and views. Something that has been lost and distorted by the media for many years.

The black community has been duped by Democrats. It was Democrats that fought to keep the black population enslaved. They were on the wrong side of the Civil War as a result. It was a Republican - Abraham Lincoln - that signed the Emancipation Proclamation. In the 20th century, it was Democrats that kept the black population from the polls, and fought to keep segregation alive and well. It was Democrats that filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And it was Democrats that came up with the "war on poverty" and welfare programs that have enslaved the black population once again, but this time to the state. Affirmative action programs that were created by Republicans and later signed via Presidential Executive Order were made to herald into the color-blind society, something that Democrats have turned on its head to the point that it now is used to discriminate by race.
Democrats have been instrumental in making sure especially inner-city black children are locked into failing public schools and indoctrinated into a victim mentality - a mentality that they use to convince them that it is evil Republicans that are the cause of all their problems. I see no one place that is a better example of the black population being institutionalized than right her in Detroit. I have written ad infinitum in this blog (see a sampling of post links at the bottom of this one) about how children in Detroit Public Schools are not only trapped in a district that hasn't functioned properly in my entire lifetime and then some, but are shackled as a result to poverty and government dependence, which is a feature rather than a bug of the system if you ask me. The worse off Detroit residents are, after all, the more apt they are to vote in Democrats into office - the same Democrats that have directly caused the problems that have been plaguing Detroit. In fact, Detroit's voting record indicates the most pro-Democrat record in the U.S:
2008 General Election results-DEM: 96.93% GOP: 2.65%
2006 General Election results-DEM: 95.05% GOP: 4.33%
2004 General Election results-DEM: 93.61% GOP: 5.93%
Note that every election cycle, it keeps inching closer to 100%. The worse things get, the more they vote in the very people of the very party that is responsible for their problems. Detroit Public Schools (DPS), just like the city, is under Democrat hegemonic domination and has been for 50 years now. In the recent NEAP test, DPS students scored the worst of any students in the nation by far, and not a single solitary student - not ONE! - placed as "advanced" in math. Those not dropping out have such bad scores on national standardized tests that Michael Casserly, executive director of the Council of the Great City Schools, had this to say:
"These numbers are only slightly better than what one would expect by chance as if the kids had never gone to school and simply guessed at the answers"
Detroit residents have been voting for their own doom and the doom of their children. The Stockholm Syndrome on a massive scale, perpetrated on purpose by Democrats. I have pointed this out many times before, but it's worth repeating yet again. One of my all-time favorite movies of all time is The Shawshank Redemption. In it, Morgan Freeman, aka "Red", coined the term when prisoners become dependent on the prison system and can no longer survive without it - institutionalized. One of the older prisoners, Brooks, was willing to kill to stay in the system as he knew nothing else after so many years. Yet they let him out and he promptly hung himself. He was institutionalized. The Democrats have institutionalizing the black population in this country, no different than slave masters did many decades ago. The same party that fought for slavery, not against it, segregated schools and filibustered the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 now has shackled the black population to another form of slavery - slavery to the state. Stripped naked of their dignity, their hope and their self-reliance.
It should thus come as no surprise to anyone that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican who was reviled with venomous hatred by Democrats, many of whom are still the model for Democrats today. Take for instance JFK, who voted against teh Civil Rights Act of 1957 as a Senator, and later his brother, the US AG, had this to say:
"I did not lie awake at night worrying about the problems of Negroes."
--Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, 1961
Kennedy later authorized wiretapping the phones and bugging the hotel rooms of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Lastly, let me just bring up one more horrendous policy that the Democrats have foisted upon the black population: abortion. Under the guise, of course, of "choice." Abortion was shepherded by one Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, who wanted to eradicate the black population via the procedure. Here in Michigan, Planned Parenthood has strategically located their butcher shops in Detroit, Warren, Jackson, Lansing, East Lansing, Livonia, Ypsilanti, and are now eyeballing Pontiac. All of these locations are close to large minority populations.
Duped by Democrats, it is the black community that supports liberal politicians by overwhelming margins that install judicial activists on the courts and throw taxpayer money at orgs like Planned Parenthood that in turn go into minority neighborhoods to butcher as many as possible. Such is supported as the most fundamental right by those activist judges against the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence that for one lists "life" as the greatest of unalienable rights. Just remember the fact that abortion is far and away the #1 killer of blacks in the U.S. (more than all diseases - combined):
Martin Luther King, Jr's niece has this to say of abortion:

“The great irony is that abortion has done what the Klan only dreamed of” - Dr. Alveda King, niece of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Did I mention the Ku Klux Klan was a Democrat invention as well? The only way I know to fight such insidious pursuits by the Democrats is education - to shine a light on who they have been and who they are. Thus, in addition to the above, please remember that MLK Jr. was a Republican, and he chose that party for a reason. That fact by itself can and should be a start.

Nail, meet coffin.
THE peak UN body on climate change has been dealt another humiliating blow to its credibility after it was revealed a central claim of one of its benchmark reports - that most of the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035 because of global warming - was based on a "speculative" claim by an obscure Indian scientist.
The 2007 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming, appears to have simply adopted the untested opinions of the Indian glaciologist from a magazine article published in 1999.
The IPCC report claimed that the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish inside 30 years.
But the scientists behind the warning have now admitted it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's report.
It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
Mr Hasnain, who was then the chairman of the International Commission on Snow and Ice's working group on Himalayan glaciology, has since admitted that the claim was "speculation" and was not supported by any formal research.
The revelation represents another embarrassing blow to the credibility of the IPCC, less than two months after the emergence of leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, which raised questions about the legitimacy of data published by the IPCC about global warming.
We're all supposed to alter our lifestyles because these people just make things up.
They haven't got a shred of credibility left. But the science is settled, or something like that.
